2016 Hall of Fame Recipient
Our 8th annual Elegant Evening Benefit Ball was held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 7 PM at the Columbus Convention and Trade center. During this event, our third “Acorn to an Oak Tree” award recipient was inducted into our Hall of Fame.
The 2016 honoree was Shelby Patrice Thomas, a graduate of Tuskegee University where she majored in Construction Science. Shelby graduated from Shaw High school in 2012 where she discovered an interest in architecture. Shelby participated in the Skills USA competition in the architecture and engineering category where she won first place at the state level in Atlanta. She later competed at the national level in the summer of 2012 in Kansas City.
Shelby has served as an intern with Turner Construction company in 2014 and was selected to co-op with Messer Construction company in 2015.
Her honors include being inducted into the Construction Honor Society, Sigma Lambda Chi and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
It is our belief that quality child care is the foundation for all young children. This event and recognition helps provide significant revenue in continuing our mission to assist families in the community with tuition costs and helps acorns to become of trees.
