classroom For more than 20 years, the Fourth Street Day Care Center and Academy has been committed to providing a quality education in a safe, caring and faith-based environment.

The center was licensed and opened its doors in 1992 as a community outreach effort of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. The late Rev. J.H. Flakes, Jr., then pastor of the church envisioned the daycare as a child development center that provided more than a place to simply babysit children. The center’s first director was Robena Gaines-Flakes, and under her direction, Fourth Street Day Care achieved recognition as the state of Georgia’s first Center of Distinction. Continued growth and recognition led to the need for a larger facility. In 2004, the center relocated to a new state of the art facility with capacity for more than 200 children, 11 class rooms, a professional kitchen and a multi-purpose resource room.

A kindergarten readiness program and a staff of responsible and experienced child care professionals, combined with a top notch education curriculum are among the many things that make Fourth Street Day Care Center and Academy a great place for your child. Our motto is developing life’s foundation from an acorn to an oak tree.
The center makes its top priority providing the best care and education for its students while offering the peace of mind that parents need.

We invite you to see for yourself. We look forward to meeting you and the opportunity to help nurture and care for your child.
